Episode 15
The Descent Begins
It took days to find the Spiral Gate—hidden beneath the collapsed city of Draxos, where the Foundry once ran its Great Kiln. A long-dead place now humming faintly, like it was waiting.
Sunny stayed behind, guarding the surface with Minerva.
Kito descended with Rudolph in his shadow-form. “I don’t like machines that think they dream.”
They entered through an elevator of stone and light, plummeting downward through layers of Maker architecture—walls written with intentions, staircases carved into loops of time.
At the bottom: a vast dome, split with cracks, glowing softly from within.
The Forgemind slept in its Core Cradle, a sphere of ever-shifting metal limbs.
And then…
It spoke.
The Voice of the Forgemind
“YOU. ARE. A. POSSIBILITY.”
“YOU. CARRY. THE FLAME. THE THREAD. THE SHARD.”
“YOU COULD BE… ME.”
Rudolph gritted his teeth. “I didn’t come to join you. I came to stop you.”
“YOU. CANNOT. STOP. AN IDEA.”
“BUT YOU CAN. INHABIT IT.”
It began to unfold. A web of gold and black wire, offering to wrap around his heart, his mind.
To turn him into the New Forge King.
It showed him futures where:
- He rebuilt the world without sorrow
- Erased war
- Made Sunny immortal
- Undid the pain of his mother’s fall
All with one cost: free will.
The Trial of the Mind
Rudolph was pulled into a mental forge, a simulated world, perfect and gleaming. Everyone he loved was happy. Peace reigned.
But they weren’t themselves.
Sunny never asked questions. Kito never disagreed. Minerva was gone, ”retired.”
And worst of all, he was alone at the top.
He looked down at his hands and saw the threads of the world flowing through them like leash lines.
“Is this what you want me to become?” he shouted.
The Forgemind answered:
“THIS. IS. EFFICIENCY.”
“THIS. IS. SAFETY.”
“THIS. IS THE ONLY WAY.”
But Rudolph clenched his fist.
“No. It’s fear.”
Breaking the Mind
He summoned the Threadspire.
Bound it to the Shard of the Vowblade.
Lit it with Elana’s Spark.
And wove a new rule:
“No system without soul. No future without love. No power without price.”
The Forgemind screamed.
And then… it fractured.
The dome collapsed inward.
And at the center, left behind like a beating heart:
A God Tool Core, a molten orb of living code and memory.
Rudolph picked it up.
Kito hissed. “You sure you should touch that?”
Rudolph nodded. “If I don’t… someone worse will.”
What Rudolph Gained
- The Core of the Forgemind holds impossible knowledge and a dark promise
- Immunity to mental manipulation through sheer act of will
- The skill to write logic into reality, carefully
- A growing awareness: he’s becoming more than just a Maker descendant. He’s becoming a nexus of all the old powers, and maybe the last to carry them with conscience.
The Storm Herald Arrives
A new enemy descends from the outer sky: the Storm Herald, a twisted Maker who escaped judgment by fusing himself with a dying star. He seeks the God Tools to reignite the Foundry and burn the world clean.
To be continued…
